Bean Soup in a Jar

Easy Bean Soup in a Jar

Bean Soup is one of my favorite things to make in a jar and give as a gift by itself or in a themed gift basket. Dry beans are inexpensive, especially if you shop at Aldi’s or dollar stores for them, and with jars you can find at second hand stores or maybe in your own attic, you have easy gifts! If you like, you can make up spice mixes to go with the beans, such as sea salt, pepper, bay leaf, and thyme for a delicious blend. All you need is a few things to decorate the jars and you’re good to gift!

Mixes for Bean Soup in a Jar

There are a lot of different dry beans you can use in Bean Soup in a Jar. I layered my jars with different colored beans for a pretty jar. Navy beans are a great basic bean that goes great in soup. Red kidney beans bring a great color, with lima beans adding a meaty texture. Split peas have an earthy taste and can be found in green or yellow varieties. Pinto beans round out the Bean Soup in a Jar blend with a speckled beauty.

Bean Soup in a Jar Gifts

Bean Soup in a Jar is a great gift addition to a themed basket for many occasions. For someone who has just gotten a new home, make a gift out of a stockpot , a bread mix, wooden spoon, and maybe some hot pads or a spoon rest. For Christmas, pick up a wire basket and fill it with everything to make a beautiful meal. Or keep it simple and offer Bean Soup in a Jar to guests to your home. Make a snappy tag out of some cardstock and a few markers for a personal touch. Bean Soup in a Jar is sure to be a treasured gift because it comes from the heart.

  1. I am always looking for good Christian gift ideas. Do you know if churches will take donations like this to give to people in need? I have received gifts like this at Christmas and I love how easy it is to pour everything together and have a quick meal; however, these jars also look great on a shelf as a decoration piece. http://www.giftsforthat.net/dept-50030

  2. What a great idea and a great gift! Thanks so much for sharing with Full Plate Thursday and have a very special Christmas week!

  4. I love this! Sometimes it can be so hard to find a little gift for friends who are trying to be healthy. I mean sweets are awesome, but not all the time right? It’s great to have an alternative.
