Copycat Starbucks Vanilla Latte

Copycat Starbucks Vanilla Latte

This Copycat Starbucks Vanilla Latte is one of my FAVORITE hot beverages.  Vanilla goes so well with almost everything!  The thing I love about this recipe, though, is that I can even leave it unsweetened and still have a great cup of coffee.  I didn’t rely on the flavored syrups to get the rich vanilla flavor.

vanillabeanpaste

I actually use a Vanilla Bean Paste by Nielsen-Massey to get my vanilla flavor.  This is the yummiest vanilla you will ever taste.  It makes EVERYTHING that calls for vanilla extract taste better.  If you don’t have vanilla bean paste, you can certainly use the best Vanilla Extract you have.

Also, to get the foam on top, I use the Ozeri Milk Frother.  You can use a steamer or a another milk frother, but this one just seems to be my favorite.

Now for the recipe:

  • 4oz milk
  • 4 oz strong coffee
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 teaspoon of sugar (or sweeten to your taste.)
  1. Heat milk in a 10-12oz microwave safe mug in microwave for about 30 seconds (until steaming but not boiling).
  2. Froth the milk and add the sugar and vanilla to it while frothing
  3. pour the hot strong coffee right over the frothed milk
  4. Enjoy!

Did you think it could be that easy?  I know, right!  Seriously, once you make this at home, you won’t want to hit Starbucks for coffee anymore.  And this recipe just saved you over $3.  This makes a Tall/Grande size.  If you want a Venti, you will need to double the recipe.

Here is my tip for that “Strong Coffee” – brew the coffee with 2 or even 3 times as many grounds as you would normally use.  Brew 3 cups or so of the coffee.  What you don’t use with making this or another hot coffee beverage that day, put into ice cube trays and freeze.  Once frozen, take out the cubes and place in a zippy lock bag.  Then when you are ready to make a blended iced coffee, you can grab a few of the coffee ice cubes and combine with milk and sugar (or chocolate syrup and milk), blend until smooth and you have a Frappuccino with VERY little effort!

There you have it, my recipe for a Copycat Starbucks Vanilla Latte.  What do you think?
