Bacon Wrapped Dates

Bacon Wrapped Dates are the Perfect Snack

I always thought bacon was amazing on its own but wrapping around dates makes it even better.  I’ve always loved sweet and salty and know a lot of women that do, but now I found the man’s version of a chocolate covered pretzel.  Bacon Wrapped Dates bring together the best of both worlds with sweet chewy dates wrapped and tender salty bacon and baked until perfectly crispy.   When you make up a platter of these tasty little treats, they’re gone before you can turn around.  I was amazed at how well they turned out and how delicious they really were. They’re well worth the five minutes of preparation it takes to get Bacon Wrapped Dates in the oven.

The Perfect Ingredients for Bacon Wrapped Dates

The perfect ingredients for Bacon Wrapped Dates starts with bacon that you like. Everybody likes a different type of bacon, and my favorite is hardwood smoked and thick sliced.  The thick sliced can take a few more minutes to bake on these wonderful snacks but it’s definitely worth the wait. If you’ve never purchase dates before there found in the produce section of your favorite grocers.  You can find them whole, pitted, or minced. I meant to purchase the pitted dates but in my rush around  the grocery store picked up the whole ones instead.  If you find yourself in the same dilemma, simply use a sharp knife to cut the dates lengthwise, carefully pry open the date and pull out the little pit . It’s as easy as that.  You definitely want either the whole or pitted dates for this recipe. If you buy too many dates, simply place the unused dates back in the sealed container and toss in your freezer for later use.
