When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, The moon and the stars, which You have ordained, What is man that You are mindful of him, And the son of man that You visit him? For You have made him a little lower than the angels, And You have crowned him with glory and honor. — Psalm 8:3-5 (NKJV)

This showed up as the verse for me when I logged into ModernChristianHomemaker, and it got me thinking.  David had it right when he asked “What is man that You are mindful of him?”.  Most of the time, I go thru life as if God owes me something.  As if he owes me breath and health.  When I pray, sometimes I pray without a sense of WHO I am speaking to.

David said, “What is man that You are mindful of him?”  He was in the right state of mind…he was in a worshipful and reverent state of mind and heart.  This is how we should all walk though life.  Being mindful of the fact that God created the heavens and the moon and the stars.  All nature that is around us is beautifully and wonderfully created.  Even our bodies that are ridden with illness, are beautifully and wonderfully created.  These were not accidents.  These are the handiwork of our wonderful God.

And this God, who created and sustains all things, is mindful of us.  He is mindful of sinful and wretched man.  He gives us breath, when we deserve death.  He gives us sun, rain, food, love and grace, when we deserve none of it.  When we were yet sinners, He sought us and and He bought us, with His redeeming blood.  That is Amazing Grace!
