I love grilling veggies.  Any kind of veggies, actually.  Fresh, crispy green beans are no exception.  They are amazing when grilled to perfection.  You can eat them hot, or you can turn them into a beautiful salad that is perfect on a hot summer night.  Grilled Green Bean Salad is a refreshing treat on your table when it’s too hot to cook or when you want something different to take to a picnic.  It goes great with anything you put on your grill, from chicken to fish and brightens up every meal.

The Secret to Grilled Green Bean Salad

Fresh, crisp green beans are needed for the best Grilled Green Bean Salad.  Farmer’s markets, your own garden, and even some grocery stores have fresh green beans available right now.  Look for green beans that snap easily, as they are the freshest.  Beautifully colored peppers are amazing when grilled, as they sweeten and flavor well.  I love to add very sweet raw onions, such as vadalias or candy onions, that add sweetness without the hot or traditional onion flavor.  Ask at the farmer’s market which onions are sugary sweet and choose those.  The dressing is simply olive oil and cider vinegar, with a dash of salt and pepper.  And that’s about it.  The salad is expandable, so if you need to make a lot or a little, it’s pretty easy to do!

Grilled Green Bean Salad Recipe – Something a Little Different on Your Table


  • 1 ½ lbs fresh green beans, washed and ends snapped
  • 6 baby multi colored peppers, cleaned and diced
  • 2 T olive oil
  • ½ sweet onion, diced
  • ⅓ C olive oil
  • ¼ C apple cider vinegar
  • salt
  • pepper


  1. Place green beans and peppers in a bowl; toss with 2 T olive oil.
  2. Heat grill to medium-high. Place the grill basket on the grill and pour in the veggies, careful of any flare-ups.
  3. Occasionally stir the veggies, lightly browning them.
  4. Remove from the grill, placing the basket on a plate or other heat proof surface.
  5. Pour the veggies in a bowl; add remaining ingredients.
  6. Stir then refrigerate at least 3 hours to chill completely.
  7. Serve with your favorite grilled meal.
