When I was a kid, Thanksgiving through Christmas was always a fun time in my house.  Cookies were baked, everything in the house was decorated, and of course, we made as many flavors of fudge as we could come up with.  My favorite by far was a chocolate fudge that could only be called Quick and Easy Fudge.  It was ready for a buttered pan in less than 10 minutes, and I can’t remember a single time that this particular recipe failed.  I can’t say that for all of my fudge forays.  I made an old recipe once that when I went to cut it, it turned into powder.  Not wanting to waste an hour’s worth of time and energy in making it, I turned it into a great Christmas gift: Mrs. Claus’s Magic Coffee Powder.  It turned any cup of coffee into the best mocha you’ve ever had.  Since then, I can’t repeat the mistake, of course.  With Quick and Easy Fudge, I never have to worry about a bad batch, and it’s ready to serve in about an hour after 10 minutes of prep time.

Simple Ingredients Make the Best Quick and Easy Fudge

Many fudge recipes start out with butter, sugar, and some kind of milk or cream.  Quick and Easy Fudge is no different.  I use white granulated sugar instead of my usual raw sugar as it provides a better flavor in this recipe.  I’ve heard you can use margarine, but I only use butter in my recipes.  The richness it provides is beyond amazing.  This recipe uses evaporated milk.  I love making this recipe because I purchase a larger can of  evaporated milk than I need so I can use the leftovers in my coffee.  For chocolate, I use good quality semi-sweet chocolate chips.  They melt well into the hot ingredients, and the flavor then lend is delicious.  The smoothness of the fudge comes from an interesting source, marshmallow fluff.  The slight bitter edge of the chocolate is tempered with a bit of vanilla, and you have the perfect Quick and Easy Fudge.

  • 3/4 C butter (plus more for pan)
  • 3 C sugar
  • 2/3 C evaporated milk
  • 12 oz (1 bag) semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 (7 oz) jar marshmallow creme
  • 1 t vanilla
  • 1 C nuts (optional)


  1. Butter a 9x9 square pan. Set aside.
  2. In a heavy saucepan, heat 3/4 c butter, sugar, and evaporated milk. Heat over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture comes to a boil.
  3. Boil for 4 minutes, continually stirring.
  4. Remove from heat and add in chocolate chips and marshmallow creme. Stir until completely incorporated.
  5. Add in the vanilla and nuts if using. Stir well.
  6. Pour into prepared pan and allow to cool.
  7. Once the fudge is room temperature, cut it into squares and serve.
