Summer Berry Spritzers

Summer Berry Spritzers

Summer’s here and that means wide variety of fresh berries. From raspberries and blackberries, mulberries to strawberries, and everything in between, berries will start showing up at local markets every day. One of my favorite summertime recipes that utilizes berries is Summer Berry Spritzers. They are a refreshing way to enjoy berries and liven up any table in just minutes. Summer Berry Spritzers look beautiful, and taste bright and delicious. They can be made with any variety of berries that you have handy and while they look prettier with fresh berries, you can make them with frozen as well.

Fresh Ingredients for Summer Berry Spritzers

I start my Summer Berry Spritzers by cruising the berry section of the grocery store or farmer’s market.  Whatever looks good, at a good price, goes into my spritzers.  I have made them with raspberries, strawberries, blackberries, and blueberries, in various combinations and amounts.  As long as the berries are ripe and juicy, you’ll have a great drink.  To the berries, I add lime for a tang, fresh mint leaves for contrast, and sometimes cucumber for the fresh, bright flavor they add on hot summer days.  The liquid I add to Summer Berry Spritzers varies.  Sometimes it’s water for a no-calorie refresher and sometimes it’s 7-Up for something a little sparkly and zesty.  Either way, you will have delicious Summer Berry Spritzers in minutes.

Making Summer Berry Spritzers for a Crowd

While I usually make my Summer Berry Spritzers in a quart jar, you can make them by the glass or even in a big pitcher for a crowd.  Adjust your fruit and other ingredients depending on how big of a pitcher you want to make.  Add the 7-Up or water about 5 minutes before serving for the best flavor you could ever want.  Summer Berry Spritzers are a refreshing, beautiful drink for summer or any time!
