Timesavers can be anything from something you make once and eat twice, like lasagna, or they can be something like One Pot Pasta, that’s ready in 30 minutes or less, uses literally one pot to cook, and feeds 4 people easily.  If you like, you can raid your garden a bit on these and make it even more flavorful that it is with the seasonings.  I like growing my own herbs so that I can pick them for dishes like this and add easy flavor without adding calories.  If you need a quick weeknight meal, all the ingredients are shelf stable, and makes a perfect end to a long day.

Flavorful Ingredients in One Pot Pasta

The robust flavor of One Pot Pasta comes from herbs and spices, as well as some delicious tomatoes.  I can my own, so they are highlighted well in this dish and taste fantastic.  Fresh or dried basil and oregano really pack a punch, giving One Pot Pasta an earthy and spicy flavor.  Red pepper flakes add a light kick, while linguine, which is normally not my favorite pasta but works great in this dish, adds a great body.  Finally, my two favorite flavors are added in, bringing a great homey flavor.  Onion and garlic are probably my most popular go-to’s for making a dish pop with seasoning.  This dish would be so easy, and look amazing in a Lodge Color Enamel Dutch Oven, like the one available at Amazon.  I’ve been looking at this one for quite some time and I think it’s time to get it with this One Pot Pasta that’s so easy to make!

Tuesday Timesaver ~ One Pot Pasta


  • 12 ounces linguine
  • 1 pint (or 15 ounce can) tomatoes
  • 6 cloves garlic, sliced
  • 1 lg sweet onion chopped
  • 32 oz chicken or vegetable broth
  • 2 t dried oregano
  • 2 t dried basil
  • ½ t red pepper flakes
  • 2 T olive oil


  1. Place all ingredients in a large pot.
  2. Cover and bring the pot to a boil.
  3. Turn down to a simmer and simmer 10 minutes or until pasta is tender, stirring occasionally. Serve hot with parmesan.

One Pot Pasta for a Week of Lunches or Dinners

One Pot Pasta is amazing for lunch or dinner as it reheats well and really satisfies.  You can double or triple this recipe, then place it in individual serving containers for lunches or dinners throughout the week.    It heats well in the microwave, and stays for 5 or 6 days in the fridge nicely.  I love knowing I have lunch in the fridge when I get up in the morning, so I don’t have to rush around for anyone, and when I have a break, I can make One Pot Pasta up quickly.
